Frequently asked questions
How does billing work?
You're billed per data record extracted, at the provider's rate plus the platform fee. Each provider sets their own per-record price — you can compare them on the Providers page. Failed extractions are never billed.
What's the platform fee?
The platform fee is a percentage added on top of the provider's base price. It covers routing, failover, caching, normalization, and infrastructure. Free accounts pay 0% but have rate limits. Pay-as-you-go accounts pay 8%.
Are cached results billed differently?
Yes. When a result is served from cache, you pay 50% of the normal price. This means frequently requested data (like a viral post's likes) gets cheaper automatically.
Can I choose which provider to use?
Yes. By default, SocialRouter picks the best provider based on price, speed, and availability. But you can specify a preferred provider in your request if you want control.
What happens if a provider is down?
On Pay-as-you-go and Enterprise plans, SocialRouter automatically fails over to the next available provider. Your request completes without you noticing. On the Free plan, you'll get an error and can retry.
Is there a minimum commitment?
No. Pay-as-you-go has no minimums, no lock-in, and no monthly fees. You only pay when you extract data. You can stop at any time.
